Anahata, your Heart Chakra, is located through the chest and heart and out through the spine.

The Heart Chakra is the second emotional chakra, rather than being instinctive. This is the doorway between the survival oriented lower chakras and the spiritually oriented upper.

The Heart Chakra is about love, relating to one another, respect, and creativity. The Heart Chakra is all about love in all its forms and the ability to relate to others. This chakra is concerned with emotional security and the certainty of being loved by others. It seeks to form a balance between the need for love and the desire for spiritual excellence.

Overactive Heart Chakra

When your Heart Chakra is overactive, or exaggerated, you may find yourself too sacrificial, too ready to give their money or possessions away, too quick to help others, and too inclined to "rescue" a very needy partner. You may feel you need to put the needs of others above your own needs, and you may find your love and loyalty are misplaced.

Or when the Heart Chakra is exaggerated, you may find yourself giving love only under the requirement of reciprocity. You may suffer from jealousy, feeling others are luckier or better off than you, yet do nothing to change your own situation.

Underactive Heart Chakra

When your Heart Chakra is underactive, or deficient, you may love to make others happy but forget that you are entitled to happiness as well. You may end up in toxic situations, caring for those that do not return the feelings. This can effect your self-esteem and self-worth, to the point where you may feel unworthy of love, approval, respect, or decent behavior. Because of this, you may feel more at peace in your own company, shying away from partnerships or groups altogether.

Heart Chakra and Your Health

The Heart Chakra is said to rule over everything in the chest area. Associated with this chakra are the heart, lungs, rib cage, upper spine, shoulders, blood cells, thymus, digestive tract, and upper stomach.

Here are a few of the common Heart Chakra health complaints: Asthma, allergies, pneumonia, emphysema, arthritis in the spine and shoulders, hiatus hernia, problems related to the breasts, cancer of the lungs or the breasts.

Healing Your Heart Chakra

There are many ways to heal your Chakras. Working with an energy healer is an excellent way to jumpstart the healing process for you. Energy healing is a noninvasive therapy where the healer uses their connection to the Universe to channel energy through themselves and direct that energy, through their hands, to your Chakras.

If you wish to work on your Chakras alone, you can always develop your connection to the Universe and channel your own healing energy. White light with blue flecks for health, pale green flecks for emotional healing, or pale lavender flecks for spiritual healing.

Physical objects may aid in your Chakra healing, such as crystals, things of certain colors, or essential oils.

Use cleansed and charged crystals for Chakra healing, hold them in your hands and envision the crystal directing its energy into your Chakra. Crystals that are linked to your Heart Plexus Chakra are:

  • Aventurine

  • Emerald

  • Jade

  • Chrysocolla

  • Agate

  • Peridot

  • Rose Quartz

  • Malachite

  • Moonstone

  • Green Fluorite

Essential Oils may also be used to heal and align your Chakras, though it is best to speak with a qualified aromatherapist before you use essential oils because they can have an effect on the entire body. Make sure to use a carrier oil if you are applying the oil directly to your skin, or, to be safer, add a few drops into your bath or a diffuser.

Essential Oils for the Heart Chakra are:

  • Bergamot

  • Rose

  • Ylang-Ylang

  • Lemongrass

  • Aniseed

  • Basil

  • Ginger

  • Lavender

  • Myrrh

Color Healing is another interesting way to heal your Chakras. Color healing is a way of introducing color to the chakras to produce a specific outcome. Anything will work, a piece of ribbon, large buttons, marbles, or a scrap of material. As long as the color is bright and clear. Plain color is better than patterned.

Place the colored item either next to the chakra or on top of the chakra, visualize a white energy coming from the Universe, as it passes through the item, it takes on the color of that item and directs itself to the chakra being healed.

The Heart Chakra is associated with the color Green. Green is related to growth, security, regeneration, and earth energy.

Lastly, another way to use Color Healing is to eat fruits and vegetables in the color associated with the Chakra for a day or two.

Fruits and vegetables including:

  • Green vegetables

  • Apples

  • Pears

  • Green grapes

  • Kiwi

I hope you find this information helpful when working with your Heart Chakra.
